Two days full of innovation, intensive discussions and international networking
The 8th BIOPOLYMER Congress 2026 once again demonstrated the dynamism and future-oriented nature of the industry. With 160 participants – both in person and online and 17 exhibitors from all areas of the value chain, the event became a key meeting point for experts from industry, research, and politics.
A particular highlight of the first day of the congress was the new, interactive exhibitor and presentation concept. Exhibitors were actively involved in the program, enriching it with engaging presentations from top-tier experts. This format was further enhanced by expanded Q&A sessions directly at the booths. Reinhard Artus expertly moderated the event.
The strong involvement of state and local politicians underscores the relevance of the topic. Greetings from the partner city of Linz and the active participation of Austria as the partner country also added important international dimensions.
Another highlight was the entertaining awards ceremony, hosted by Michael Walter. After an exciting final round with compelling pitches, winners from three different countries were honored.
Networking was also an important part of the event: The evening event with an open barbecue offered an excellent opportunity for intensive exchange in a relaxed atmosphere
The second day of the congress featured a top-class lecture program with internationally renowned speakers. The high-quality online broadcast – primarily in English – enabled students worldwide to participate. The day concluded with an excursion to Germany’s and Europe’s largest biorefinery in Leuna. There, participants gained fascinating insights into the production of bio-based chemicals from plant-based raw materials.
The 8th BIOPOLYMER Congress 2026 thus offered an excellent platform for networking between producers, processors and trading partners, as well as for discussing current developments along the entire value chain.
SAVE THE DATE: The next BIOPOLYMER Congress will take place on June 14 and 15, 2027 – with the USA as the partner country.
