Two days filled with innovation, in-depth discussions, and international networking

The 8th BIOPOLYMER Congress 2026 once again demonstrated just how dynamic and forward-looking the industry is. With 160 participants—both in person and online—and 17 exhibitors from all sectors of the value chain, the event served as a key meeting place for experts from industry, research, and politics.

A particular highlight of the first day of the congress was the new, interactive exhibitor and presentation concept. Exhibitors were actively integrated into the program and enriched it with engaging keynote talks by top-tier experts. The format was complemented by expanded opportunities for questions and answers directly at the booths. Reinhard Artus skillfully moderated the proceedings.

The strong participation of state and local politicians underscored the relevance of the topic. Greetings from the sister city of Linz, as well as Austria’s active involvement as the partner country, also added important international dimensions.

Another highlight was the entertaining awards ceremony, hosted by Michael Walter. Following an exciting final round featuring compelling pitches, winners from three different countries were honored.

Networking was also a key part of the event: The evening reception, featuring an open barbecue, provided an excellent opportunity for in-depth discussions in a relaxed atmosphere.

The second day of the conference featured a high-caliber program of presentations by internationally renowned speakers. The high-quality online broadcast—primarily in English—made it possible for students around the world, in particular, to participate. The event concluded with an excursion to the largest biorefinery in Germany and Europe, located in Leuna. On site, participants gained fascinating insights into the production of bio-based chemicals from plant-based raw materials.

The 8th BIOPOLYMER Congress 2026 thus provided an excellent platform for networking among producers, processors, and trading partners, as well as for discussing current developments along the entire value chain.

SAVE THE DATE: The next BIOPOLYMER Congress will take place on June 14 and 15, 2027—with the United States as the partner country.
