requires a consistent thinking in material cycles. How can plastic products finish their lifetime no longer as waste, but as valuable components of natural or technical cycles? Quite a lot of such materials and technologies do already exist, a lot of them are in progress, and some are just a vision. The two events in Halle (Saale) make the latest developments visible for innovative processors and applicators and enable the direct exchange with scientists and researchers.
Since its premiere in 2018, the BIOPOLYMER congress attracts processors and applicators, manufacturers, suppliers and researchers of biobased, biodegredable plastics to the HALLE MESSE. Participants and speakers of the first two events came from Europe, Asia and overseas. The lectures will be held in German or English and be translated simultaneously in the other language (only BIOPOLYMER -Processing & Moulding).
Started in 2009, the MKT grew up to the flagship event of the plastics economy in central Germany – unfolding a supraregional and international attraction. In 2020 the conference focuses on the topic „Circular Economy & Resources Efficency“. Conceptual sponsors of MKT are the associations of plastics industry in Brandenburg, Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt and several partners. The lectures will be given in German or English.

Who will get the coveted trophies, donated by POLYKUM for out- standing innovations in the field of biobased, biodegredable plastics in 2O2O? The secret will be discovered at the awards ceremony at the end of the first congress day.
As in the previous year the winners will present their prize-decorated projects in the accompanying exhibition and also in the final lessons of the BIOPOLYMER – Processing & Moulding congress.
Applications for the BIOPOLYMER Innovation Awards 2O2O can be admitted after the publication of the invitation in December 2O19. You can find further information and our reminding service on the award’s website: www.polykum.de/en/biopolymer-award

The exhibition area between the two conference stages in hall 1 is reserved for suppliers, producers and researchers to present their latest materials and solutions.
In the Application Village (also hall 1) researchers and developers present their latest projects to find partners for the next step, like test series or the transformation of papers into products.
In the machinery room (neighbouring hall 4) it’s getting noisy. Participants of the congress can see the newest equipment for the plastic processing and recycling live and in action.

is the heart of the central German “chemicals triangle”. The town was essentially characterized by the regional development of chemical and plastics industries during the last century. The large enterprise facilities of Buna and Leuna, but also of Bitterfeld and Zeitz nearby today are successful Chemical Parks. Big global players like Dow Chemical, Total or Bayer are based here, but also medium sized and small businesses. Companies of the chemical and plastics processing industries, but also innovative service and logistic providers mark the economical townscape of Halle itself today.
Many start-ups have their origin at the science and business parc Weinberg Campus. It is located in the green heart of the town, where institutes of the Fraunhofer’s and the Max Planck's, the and the Helmholtz’ Societies are just as at home as institutions of the 300 years old Martin-Luther-University.
Halle is known as one of the most important site of Martin Luthers’ life’s work as well as the birth place of George Frederic Handel. The historical city of Halle was the only one among Germanys major cities that remained nearly undestroyed during World War II. This makes it easy to experience the millenary history of Halle which is closely connected with the legendary Halloren salt miner brotherhood.
